Outsourcing your SEO work, means you pay another freelancer or SEO company to do specific parts of your SEO work for you. The most common types of outsourcing companies are Indian Companies that add your website details to Directories.Directory's are websites that list your website in categories rather than as search results, the largest and most well known Directory is www.dmoz.com. It's also the hardest one to get listed in. It can take a year sometimes longer to be listed in dmoz.
There are thousands of other directory's, and you can choose to enter your website details into these directory's, or pay an outsourcing company to do it.
With directory's, they best ones to get listed in, are ones that have a high google Page Rank (PR) not just for their home page, but the page your link is listed on. Also if the whole directory is about your particular type of business, then this is the best sort of link to try and get.
The problem is, that the best directory's make you pay to be included, or make you link back to their site. The best thing to do, is find directory's that aren't so popular yet, they will be offering free one-way links. And get your link into them. There is another problem, in that directory's come and go, and you can spend hours and hours submitting your website details to directory's, many of which won't be online in 6 or 12 months.
By Outsourcing your directory listing part of your SEO, you can pay from 20 cents, to $5 per link, the place I use costs 25 cents per link so they will do 200 directory listings for only $50. To do the links yourself would take you about 30-90 hours, so even at 10 hours, outsourcing is a very cheap alternative.
You can of course, buy programmes that will help you add your own links, but you are looking at paying around $80USD for the programme, it will cut down the time it takes to do the directory submissions, to around 10 or 12 hours to do 200 links, but add the price of the programme, and the hours it still takes, say $10 an hour, and you could get over 700 links done for the same price.
There is another downside to doing your own directory listings, and this is to do with the directory itself, many directory owners, add things to their website code, that don't allow search engines to rank or even search their directory listings. You may still get a few visitors to your website, from people that use their directory to search for websites online, but the time it takes to do the submissions, isn't worth the payback you get. The good outsourcing sites, have a list of search engine friendly directory's so you know that each and every listing will be worthwhile.
